Delicious, flavorful, and bright Candied apples made with your favorite Skittles® candy.
Ingredients
  • 15 apples, of any variety ( I used a variety of different apples)
  • Unsalted butter, for parchment paper
  • 2 cups sugar
  • ¾ cup water
  • ½ cup light corn syrup
  • ¾ cup of each flavor of Skittles® , plus a handful
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • ½ teaspoon of each food coloring, corresponding with each skittles flavor/ color of your choosing.
Instructions
  1. Blend ¾ cup of the skittles color you are using, with cornstarch, in a high powered blender until they become a fine powder. Place in a wide bowl for dipping apples. Skittles Candied Apples Recipe for your Game Day this Football Season
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper; butter parchment, and set aside. In a medium heavy-bottomed saucepan, combine sugar, ¾ cup water, corn syrup, and food coloring that your using.
  3. Each Skittles flavor can be used, and done separately for each color. The rainbow is the limit on how many colorful flavors you choose, each color however needs to be done separately.
  4. Bring to a boil over high heat; reduce heat to medium-high and add a handful of the skittles flavor you are working with. Insert candy thermometer and continue to boil until temperature reaches 300 degrees F (hard crack stage), about 20- 25 minutes.
  5. Meanwhile, insert a wooden stick into the top of each apple, pushing about halfway through; set aside. When mixture reaches temperature, immediately remove from heat. Working quickly, dip apples in sugar mixture until completely coated, and allow to drip over the pan briefly.
  6. Dip each apple into the Skittles® powder to cover the apples half way. (Work quickly as the candy hardens quickly) Skittles Candied Apples Recipe for your Game Day this Football Season
  7. Transfer to prepared baking sheet; allow to cool.
